Being a single woman

You are in college and you’ve yet to find that special someone in your life. It seems like every day is filled with reminders that you are alone. Maybe your best friend is going to a movie with her boyfriend and you stay home to avoid feeling like a third wheel again, or you turn on the television and your favorite chick flick is on to remind you that you are, once again, single. Sound familiar? It is all too easy to allow singleness to bring you down or frustrate you, but it seems like the majority of singles today fail to see all of the positive things that come hand-in-hand with singleness.

Being single means more free time for you. You have more time to focus on yourself, your goals, and your dreams in life, and there couldn’t be a better time to be single than while you are in college. This is a time in your life where you are trying to figure out what you want to spend the rest of your life doing and what career is best for you. Let’s face it; if you were in a dating relationship right now, the majority of your time would be placed into that relationship instead of focusing on one of the biggest decisions of your life: your future career!

Being single also gives you plenty of time to hang out with your friends. It has been said that the friends you meet in college are the friends that will stick with you for the rest of your life. You are single and free! Don’t waste this precious season in your life being upset or depressed because you aren’t “taken”. Have fun and make long-lasting memories with your friends because you will never be able to get these days back!

Singleness is not a burden or a curse; singleness is a gift. It is a rare season of your life that gives you quality time to focus on your future, your friends and family, yourself, and what really matters to you. When the timing is right, a beautiful relationship will blossom in your life, but until then, spend your time as a single wisely!
