A changing time

It’s no secret. College is extremely influential to your education. But you aren’t just going to learn in the classroom. In fact, some of the most important lessons you learn will be learned in your every day life.

Throughout college, you are going to learn things about yourself, society, your peers, professors and every single experience that comes your way.

You will be challenged in ways that you never dreamed of and face hurdles that will make you question yourself. It can be scary sometimes and extremely trying.

The most important thing is to face these challenges head on. Know when you need to ask for help or advice and know that through it all – you will be okay. No matter how hard things can get, they will always get better.

College is one of the most diverse environments of people that you will ever encounter in your life. People from all walks of life are going to be all around you. Your peers will come from different states, regions of the country and even different countries from around the world.

Embrace the diversity that you encounter. There are different things to learn that will help you grow as a person. You will be able to learn about different societies and what life is like for them. Get to know other people and embrace what makes them different. You really won’t have a learning experience like this again in your life.

Be open to the experiences that also present themselves to you through your college years. Studying abroad, taking a trip with friends or even volunteering in the local town or city – all of these opportunities will let you learn more about yourself and the worlds around you.

Studying abroad for a semester is a great chance to taking your learning to a whole new level. You can immerse yourself in a culture that is different from one you have even seen before.

Every second, every minute of college is a learning opportunity. You will change as a person and it is completely normal. Embrace the opportunities and continue to evaluate your values and what means most to you.
