Broke and Beautiful: The Cheapest Ways to Look Chic

You don’t have to spend a fortune to look like a million bucks. Follow a few tricks to look your best for just a few pennies per day.

Cheap Way to: Brighten Eyes

Vaseline is a cheap and effective highlighter. Use it on your eyelash to create a glossy glow even without mascara.

Cheap Way to: Get Amazing Skin

People tend to overestimate how much their skin really needs. One of the most important things that you can do is just find a routine that works for you. All of the expensive products in the world won’t do you any good if they are just sitting in your bathroom cupboard. Try out cheap products and keep your routine simple. If it is working, don’t change it! There is always a lot of hype surrounding new beauty products but that doesn’t mean that you need all of them– or any of them!

Cheap Way to: Get Glossy Hair

Rather than investing in products promising to give you glossy strands, use what you already have! After you blow dry your hair, give it a quick shot of air on the cool setting to close the cuticles and make your hair look lush. Also, don’t underestimate the power of at-home hair masks. There are millions of different kinds that allow you to take advantage of what you already have. If you have avocados that are about to go bad, make an avocado based hair mask. If you always have olive oil on hand, use it to create a hydrating hair wrap. There are infinite options and it just takes a quick online search.

Vinegar is always a great go-to shine enhancer. After you wash your hair, mix ⅔ of a cup of cool water with ⅓ of vinegar. It will lock your cuticles up and create a great shine and easy to manage coating.

Cheap Way to: Plump Lips

Rather than applying lipstick throughout the day, add a thin layer of baby powder or blush underneath your lipstick. By creating a base for the lipstick to cling to it will last for hours longer.

To create the look of fuller lips, add a touch of gloss to the center. The gloss will reflect light and create the illusion of added fullness.

Cheap Way to: Stretch Out Your Products

If you want good makeup brushes, you need to make a decent investment in higher quality ones. The cheap brushes rarely work as well and don’t last nearly as long. You don’t need to buy the most expensive ones but spend what you can on good quality brushes. To get the most out of your investment, clean them regularly. If they sit too long with product on them, the bristles can be damaged. You don’t need a pricey brush cleaner though. Just pick up some cheap baby shampoo and wash them once a week. After you wash them, leave them lying on a flat surface overnight to dry.

To maximize your moisturizer, use it after your shower while your skin is still damp. Your skin will lock it the moisture while it is drying and you will look dewy and fresh all day.
