Having a dream is one thing: Living your dream is another. Upon starting out on your college jour-ney, or wherever life takes you for that matter, you will most likely encounter a number of people who will outright tell you that your dreams are too far fetched, too outrageous to even consider ac-tually achieving them in your lifetime.

But that’s where I completely disagree; and you should too. No one ever achieved anything of grandeur by listening to other people’s opinions about how their dreams are impossible. The word itself says, ‘I’m possible’ – If that’s not enough encouragement to go out and grab your dream with both hands then I really don’t know what is!

Being a fashion blogger (with my blog, I can completely relate to this and can say that I have experienced it first hand. Blogging is relatively new ground in this world of communication that we live in today, with many people still not fully invested in it or aware of the incredible significance and reach that blogging now has under it’s belt, and quite a few people in my life have thrown shade towards it. I know full well that it’s new territory for many, particularly those of older generations, but that certainly doesn’t mean it isn’t a suitable lifestyle choice. Just because it isn’t your typical 9 to 5 day job doesn’t mean it isn’t do-able.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying it’s all rainbows and flower petals. Blogging involves countless hours of editing, social media promotion, location scouting, sleepless nights of creative writing and not forgetting a number of press events to attend, but that doesn’t mean it should be deemed as outlandish or unrealistic. If there are other successful people in my niche, which is fashion, blogging on a daily basis and living their passion, then there should be absolutely no reason why the girl next door, or me for that matter, shouldn’t be able to… Wouldn’t you agree?

The fact of the matter is, whatever your biggest dreams and true desires are, don’t ever let anyone talk you out of working towards what you want, or at least trying. With hard work and determination, I truly believe anything is possible!

So, the next time you’re feeling down in the dumps about your life after college and taking the plunge into the big, bad, ‘real’ world, take things one step at a time and never lose sight of what got you started down this path… Your dream.

It’s important to remember though, dreams don’t come easy. In order to become the best at what you do, you have to work hard for it. For example, take two aspiring fashion designers, both dreaming of becoming one of the elites, showcasing at fashion weeks around the world. Let’s say one of them makes little to no effort, and the other does, spending hours upon hours honing their craft… Which will succeed in this cut throat industry? Which will achieve their dream? Hard work can truly turn your dream into your reality, after all, “If you can dream it, you can do it” (Walt Dis-ney).

That’s the think line between dreaming of something and making it a reality. On the days you feel like giving up on your dream, stay positive and push through the barriers, because in the end, you will live a fuller, more enriched life, and that’s the most important thing: Happiness.
