Fitting Fashion 101

Between the leaves changing and the seasons transitioning, girls’ main priority is to always look their best. Whether it’s a day in class or a lunch date with that cute boy from work, my main priority is to always make my clothes both versatile and comfortable. Being a 19 year old from New Hampshire who spontaneously decided to attend college in North Carolina, the change from cold to warm gave me a little bit of a wardrobe malfunction at first. However, over time, I was able to develop my fashion sense into something that can be pulled off anywhere and at anytime.

Just like every other girl, I’ve always been a sucker for a pair of leggings and some riding boots. Comfy, casual, and affordable, this look can be paired with almost any top and always looks good. The black legging is slimming, while the riding boots provide a chic look. Then, its up to you to decide how you would want to finish off your outfit of the day. Personally, with it being the start of winter, I think oversized sweaters and cardigans are a must. Ranging in different colors and textures, the possibilities of this look are endless. And the best part about it? You can change it up however you want! When I was growing up, I always found myself on Pinterest searching for different outfits to wear. And once I found one that I liked, I would try and make sure I bought that exact sweater or shirt that the model had provided. How ridiculous is that?

The most important part about fashion is to make sure you’re always staying true to you. It doesn’t matter how Sarah from your rival sorority dresses, or what that guy might think of your look. Make sure to be yourself, and you’ll always look and feel your best.

Another look that is sure to be an eye catcher is to mix up your wardrobe with different flannels or plaids. In my closet alone, I have enough flannel shirts to wear one for every day of the week, and it’s something I embrace. The color patterns are endless, and depending on the weather, you can choose to either go with a heavy flannel, or a plaid shirt with the t-shirt feel. Pair this with your favorite jeans or leggings, and voila! You look amazing. Mix it up with whatever shoes you’re feeling for the day, whether it be those riding boots, combat boots, converse or bean boots, you’ll look incredible.

The last look I’m going to talk about brings out a little bit of my southern side that I developed while in the Carolinas. On some days, I may choose to wear something more put together and dressy, while still feeling comfortable in my skin. A simple dress, paired with a statement necklace and some flats, is a simple look that goes a long way. Most girls have a little black dress that they choose to wear out on the town, but my best advice? Get a dress that you can transition from morning to night. Ranging in colors, these looks can be easily glammed up or toned down, and it always looks like you’ve been spending more time on your look than you actually have (which is definitely a bonus). Pair with a shoe of your choosing, and you’re ready to go!

Happy shopping, let the fun begin!
