Pacing Yourself While Dating

The foundation of a relationship is obviously the most important thing; if the foundation is weak or unstable, the relationship is not going to last very long. A great way to guarantee your relationship is built on a firm, solid foundation is to pace the relationship at a healthy pace.

The first way you can pace yourself in a dating relationship is to not be afraid to speak up. If you are in a new, fresh relationship and you want to take things slow, let your partner know. Taking things slow can be one of the hardest things you will do in a relationship, and also one of the greatest things you can do. By not rushing into anything, especially physically, you will have plenty of time to get to know one another in a way that is not rushed. It is important to have the “let’s take it slow” conversation early on in the relationship, or it will most likely never happen.

Another way to pace your relationship properly is to avoid talking about the future at first. Maybe you think the two of you will be together for eternity, and maybe you will, but that doesn’t mean it is a good idea to talk about your future together at the beginning of your relationship. Take the beginning of the relationship slow and once both of you are for sure on the same page in the relationship and know each other well enough, you can talk about your future together, and possibly even about marriage.

These are just a few ways you can avoid going too fast in a relationship, and possibly ruining something really great because you did not know how to pace it correctly. Going slow in a dating relationship is a great way to make sure the relationship stays healthly.
