Pimple Coverage 101

Ugh pimples! I thought they were supposed to magically disappear from my life once I hit my 20’s. For most of the year my face more or less likes to behave itself. But as soon as the warm weather kicks in, my face decides to use the change in seasons as an excuse to breakout. The worst part is that I never really know what I am getting. One day it will be a cystic zit between my eyes (why do those hurt the WORST?!) and a few days later a nice big red pimple pops up on my cheek.
After many years, I finally have hiding a pimple down to a science. First you want to cleanse and moisturize your face. Then apply the acne medicine of your choice to the offender. I like to use something with salicylic acid in it because I’ve found that’s what dries the zit out the fastest. Once that is done, put a few drops of redness reducing eye drops on the tip and gently put on and around the pimple. This will help reduce any inflammation. Now we get to the tricky part – applying the actual concealor without making it look like you are wearing a mountain of concealor. Start by applying primer to your entire face. This helps keep the makeup on all day. Next use a small concealor brush to gently apply the concealor around the pimple. Concealor brushes are amazing and worth the investment because they give you an airbrushed look. After you’ve applied concealor around the area, slowly work your way in to the top of the pimple. Keep adding a little at a time until you get the right amount of coverage. Once you feel confident that the pimple is no longer the main attraction on your face, take a translucent finishing powder and brush over your entire face. Voila! Now you are ready to leave the house.
