Study abroad in rome

My name is Scott Proietti and I am a student at Ohio University. I will be graduating from Ohio in the Spring of 2015. I am originally from Cumberland, MD, and I chose to attend Ohio because of its renowned E.W. Scripps School of Journalism.

I am a Journalism major with a primary focus in Sports Journalism. I especially enjoy baseball, basketball and football. My favorite teams are the Pittsburgh Pirates, Miami Dolphins and Miami Heat.

I chose to major in journalism because I am always seeking new knowledge. I love to know what is going on in the world around me and I enjoy meeting and interviewing new people.

After college, I hope to land any job in the sports journalism field, but I would really like to cover one of my favorite teams. Eventually, I would like to work in the business side of sports later on in my career.

In life, we as human beings are often adamant to change. We don’t always like to try new things, expand our horizons or take a giant step outside of our comfort zone.

But often times, a change is what can spark a life-changing scenario. Getting a different perspective on things and experiencing things that you aren’t normally accustomed to vastly helps you grow as an individual.

Many college students across the country are introduced to the idea of studying abroad at one point or another during their time on campus. Leaving your native country for an extended period of time, eating different foods, struggling with a new language- these are all immediate concerns when a college kid first begins flirting with the idea of studying abroad.

It all sounds scary right? Leaving your home, family and friends for at least six to eight weeks is not easy; but more times than not, college kids return home after completing their session studying abroad with the feeling that they made the right decision in doing so.

A great place for any college student to student abroad is Rome, Italy. The beautiful Italian city has a rich history and breath-taking scenery that will completely change any visitor’s outlook on life.

The city of Rome is home to nearly four million people. The capital city is located in the central-western part of the Italian Peninsula along the shores of the Tiber River. Rome is one of the most visited cities in the world and is considered to be the most desired tourist destination in Italy.

One must-see attraction in the city is the world-famous Colosseum. The amphitheater is the largest of its kind in the world and set the architectural precedent of how we build our stadiums today. When you are standing on the Colosseum grounds, take a quick breath and think of the number of gladiators that duked it out with ferocious lions in those confines thousands of years ago.
