I will be the first to admit that I am a total rootaphob. I see the smallest but of dark at my roots and want to immediately run to the salon and have it covered up. I’ve also had those mornings where I have woken up and suddenly realized that I let my roots go and they are a major issue. The problem is that getting to the salon on a regular basis can be time consuming, expensive and just not realistic. As a result of one too many missed hair appointments, I have come up with some full-proof tips for disguising your roots.
1. Use Dry Shampoo
Dry shampoo is a great way to hide your roots in between visits to the salon. This tip works especially well if you are a blonde. Just spray it on and comb through.
2. Switch Up Your Part
Simply flipping your part is a quick and easy way to hide your roots. By doing this you are letting your natural color show more and hiding your roots. One tip I learned from my hairstylist was to do a zig zag part taking the handle of a comb and dragging it across the part line in a zig zag motion. It creates a fun look while hiding overgrown roots.
3, Wear a Headband or Scarf
When all else fails, go the simple route and put on a headband or tie a scarf in your hair. People will have no idea that under that cute accessory lays a head of roots.
4. Try a New Hair Style
side ponytails, braids and topknots are all great hairstyles for covering up unsightly roots. These also happen to be my go-to styles for when I haven’t washed my hair in a few days. They are all on-trend and look great on anyone.
5. Rock a Hat
Hats are without a doubt the easiest way to hide roots or just a bad hair day. Grab your favorite fedora or sunhat and go have some fun!
