Everything heats up in summer, which means that you need a look that’s hot enough to melt ice cream. There is nothing better than a dramatic smokey eye. Though sometimes something that heavy can feel like too much for summer months when we all go lighter on the makeup. I am here to tell you that it is possible to pull off smoky eyes in a major way this summer. So ditch your dark grey eye shadow and come with me to the land of the bronzed smoky eye. Yes, you heard me right. When it comes to a smoky eye, most people automatically think of the dark, smoldering look that goes along with a sexy dress. But like you’re your favorite nail polish, the smoky eye can come in a wide range of colors. Half of the fun of makeup is experimenting, so feel free to try different colors with different outfits.
Smokey eyes can seem intimidating at first, but they aren’t as hard as you think. Practice makes perfect. I recommend starting with a fresh face without any makeup. That way if you mess up, you can fix it without having to worry about ruining the rest of your makeup. For a bronze eye you need gold metallic shadow pencil, brown matte eyeshadow, an angled eye brush and an eyeshadow blending brush. Start by applying the creamy gold shadow. Start by filling in your eye from the lash line up to the lid the with the gold shadow pencil. Using the blending brush, smooth out the color so that it is even. Feel free to keep layering the color until it is as deep as you want it. Next take the brown shadow and with a brush apply it just above the crease in your eye. I like to then take a fluffy brush and run it over to blend. Apply some of the gold pencil to the bottom of your eye and then blend in a little of the matte brown. It’s that simple… you have a gorgeous bronze eye to compliment your sun-kissed summer skin!
