Things they don’t teach you in school

Scott is from Lafayette, California and is in his junior year at Occidental College in Los Angeles, California. He is majoring in Chemistry and minoring in History and Mathematics. He plans to attain a Master’s degree in Engineering. He is an outfielder and pitcher on the Occidental Tigers baseball team. Scott plans to take his interest in science and someday form a company which works to find was to simplify the complexities of prosthesis.

College. It’s the period every high school kid looks forward to, and the time most adults look back to. It’s the time when we are called to discover ourselves; when we are to find what we want to do with the rest of our lives; when we make life long social connections. However, there are many things that one never hears before embarking on the experience of college. It’s a new frontier that the young generation faces together. Simply stated, it’s the stuff they never teach you about college.
Many obstacles face the new college student on a daily basis. These obstacles can be both positive and negative. From drug use to class selection, major choices to weekend adventures; the daily life of college allows young men and women to make their own decisions, more often than not for the first time in their lives. This can lead the average student to a fork in the road which can affect the continuation of their lives.
College is the place where the average boy or girl becomes an extraordinary man or woman. That is where they can become great and reach the potential they have always been bound for. For all the struggles college life presents, even more possibilities are existent. For all the homework assignments, late study nights, and frustrating exams; there are numerous compliments from professors, study breaks with friends, and memory making that will last a lifetime.
