Surviving first year of college

My name is Omar Abdel and I am majoring in business marketing. I live upstate NY and I am currently pursuing my Bachelor’s degree at Franklin University. Instead of going to Columbus, HO, I decided to pursue my degree by going through their respected online program. However, I am taking classes at my community college as well to help speed up the process and graduate at an earlier time. I am a Jewelry Consultant at Gordon’s Jewelers and I am trying to balance both school and work to reach my goals.

Waking Up Early

Waking up early has been a challenge for me since the first semester of college. Even though I am not a morning person, I decided to take morning classes, starting at 8am, because my work shifts usually start at 2pm until closing. Therefore, every morning, I forcefully wake myself up at 6:30am and by the time I actually wake up, it will be around 7am. Even though it is extremely hard for me to wake up in the morning, I developed a habit of motivating myself when I am feeling down. It is natural for people to lose motivation and to lose focus of their intended target. Therefore, it is extremely important to motivate yourself and to keep moving forward. In my case, it is important to motivate myself because if I don’t, I may not accomplish my daily goals.
Believe it or not, struggling to wake up in the morning is, at times, caused by one’s mental strength. That is why keeping yourself motivated is very important when you are trying to wake up in the morning or when you are trying to accomplish some sort of obstacle. The more one is stressed out about a situation or not motivated to do something, that person will have a challenging time waking up in the morning and successfully accomplish that daily goal.
If you are like me and you are struggling with waking up early in the morning, just remember that you’re daily tasks are important and you have to successfully accomplish them to help become the person you want to be. It is important for you to set daily goals for yourself and effectively accomplish them. Setting daily goals will help you become an active person and accomplishing those goals will make you into a happy person. For example, my daily goals are doing the best I can in school, understanding all of the content for each class, and going to work while feeling wake and on-paint. I set these goals because I know that by understanding all of the materials for each class, the materials will help me later on in the future. Also, by having good work ethics as a Jewelry Consultant, I will learn how to balance my everyday tasks while effectively performing at my job.
Even though waking up in the morning to go to school seems like an easy task, it can slow your performance down and you will not have the desire to do anything if you don’t have motivation. Motivation, I believe, is the main factor that will help you wake up in the morning and make you more productive. Let’s face it, we might not be passionate about waking up in the morning and going to class. However, with motivation, you will find a reason to wake up each morning and accomplish your tasks. It is important to make yourself believe that your daily tasks are opportunities to becoming the person you want to be. Once students start believing that their daily tasks are obligations, not opportunities, they will have a more challenging time with school and their daily obstacles.
